  • Changing gas pedal to twist grip mounted on steering lever

    Hi
My KB argo 1985 has a foot operated gas pedal. Noticed all the more modern machines have a motorcycle twist type hand throttle. Has anyone done this conversion? Any pointers?

I have a twist grip throttle from a 2wheeler Yamaha XT 250 I may be able to transplant.
Is there a better option eg thumb operated like a quad bike atv ?

I've never heard of a foot operated gas in an Argo. I've got a 86 Kb-I/C and use a twist throttle from a Harley. I'm not sure how a thumb lever will do becauase the throttle has to be able to move with the lever. Don't suppose that you can post a pic of your current throttle set up?

Will attempt some pictures on the weekend. The foot operated gas pedal looks factory fitted. Maybe someone else has seen a foot operated gas pedal on an argo.

      Thanks

My 1987 NKB centaur style conversion now use a mountain bike brake lever and a long go-cart style cable. it is used as the throttle lever and is very effective and easy to control.

while you are messing around, take the time to change the 2 brake lines for braided rubber lines or hard steel line (car parts); it make an HUGE difference in driveability on my 1987.

That is definitely unique. Thanks for the pics. I may have to try that out. It will free up your right wrist while still throttling and playing with the tillers.
