They actually perform OK in snow. I have a 2004 Avenger up in Casper WY running these for cabin access in the winter and its working out great on the snowmobile trails and hard pack. Deep powder is a completely different ballgame where weight and width are key and requires a wide, light track to keep the machine on top.

The reasons hard core mudders like MightyMaxIV and myself prefer the Adair Argo Tracks over others is simple. A track with 1 1/8 " inch lugs will give outstanding traction in thick mud , and the open tread design has now proved to give the fastest water speed for amphibious swimming. Because of the wide spacing of the lugs, smooth flat machined surfaces, and open drop-through design , mud will slide off a whole lot easier than on a conventional , solid flat track as they turn. Solid track designs, even if they had lugs that big , still would,nt be able to push down this deep into slime and mud to provide this much added "bite". Think of it like this... if you had a steep, slippery , muddy slope , and laid down a wooden pallet with wide open gaps , and then in contrast ,a solid piece of plywood of the exact same size, which one would be safer to stand on? This is where a track design like this excels over an aggressive mud tire in the same conditions. And, as you have pointed out Roger, the excellent swim speed is a big plus also. This track design might not give your amphib the flotation that a solid belt track has in snow (Tim would probably disagree), but on the flip side of the coin, its a whole lot lighter, and much easier on the machine.

Can these tracks be adjusted to adapt to other brands of aatv ?

Tim told me that he could make up a set of his tracks for just about any amphib if you have the lower tub clearance to fit them. Tim also told me that he could make a set of tracks for either my Hustler Bigfoot or Max II. A Max II would be sweet with a set of these tracks on it. A light weight Max II would be just about unstoppable with these tracks on it.

This video shows a better close up of what the track looks like.

What I really like about Tim,s 14" inch tracks on the Argo 6x6 and 8x8, is that they only make the Argo two inches wider on either side. Having an Argo this width will also give you a lot more trails to choose from at most atv parks.

The argo super tracks on the 8x8 are made from HDPE like this super duper set of tracks; and trust me, HDPE is not worth crap on rocks. (but the rubber tracks can climb on rocks and ride over the deepest snow)

so again it's a trade from the snow and rocks capabilities for a set of tracks that swim; nothing is perfect.

Which is why I have decided to upgrade my supertracks. I had posted on this earlier but the post was removed. Not quite sure why. I plan on cutting segments from used snowmobile tracks and fastening them to each pointed triangular center section of each track. It will still clear the tub, and will put some rubber in contact with terra firma which will in turn give me better traction on rocks, ice or pavement. I won't have to do it to every segment either. Just so that every other or every third segment has some rubber on the ground. The raised rubber cleats should give some paddle action in the water as well. Can get used snowmobile tracks for practically nothing.
