Front Chain Tensiors slapping/jumping while turning

Heyguys,

I have an 05 avenger, 185 hrs. It has fairly new chains on it (10hrs or so) and new style chain tensioners (large teeth). I can not seem to get the front tensioners to stop "jumping/slapping down" when I turn. The one side of the chain loses tension on the turn and I think jumps up, then when I straighten out , the tensioner slaps down hard. Probably not a big deal but it is annoying.

Has anyone else got this? Is it normal or am did I set up something wrong. (I don't think I did but you never know). It almost seems like only one side of the springs on the tensoners are working...........

OK, I was looking at the chains today. I think I may have put the tensioners on wrong. All the chain tensioners are BELOW the BOTTOM chain on the mid 50-2 chains and both the 60-1 chains, but they are on the BOTTOM of the TOP part of the chain on the front 50-2 chains. So what is happening is that when I turn, the chain tightens up quickly, and smacks the chain (and chain tensioners) down tight.

SHould the tensioning system be on the top part of the chain or the bottom part of the chain on those front 50 series?

You need advice from someone besides me about the avenger, but I did find a pic. I didn't know argo started using tensioners on the front chain. So yes the tensioner should be as shown, because that is the slack side when moving forward. The others axles would be slack on the bottom. Think about how the idler shaft sprockets pull the chains..

Yah, i took another look at the set up today. YOu are right, they are where they are supposed to be. I suppose the fact that there is not guides on the bottom part of the chain area should have been my first clue!

I amazes me how many little things there are to learn about these things!
