  • Found another Conquest that's for sale

Wondering if I should go for it, as it won't be too long before my oldest daughter decides mine is hers.

2005 Conquest, has Carb issues, but owner has a brand new carb for it, still in the box (@$450). About 400hrs on it, but looks like it was left outside with the plugs still in. Everything is rusty down low (Chains, Sprockets, Axles, ect). Comes with (I think) 3300lb rule winch (works), 22" Runasucks( Good condition ), Rubber Tracks (Good Condition, but I hear that they "Squeek" something terrible when they are wet)
Rebuilt from the ground up by a previous owner, and has only had about 10hrs since rebuild (I know the guy that rebuilt it, School Buddy from waaay back). I think it has an Alternator as well. No rear rack or front Pushbar, but I prefer to build my own anyway.
Was told that the tracks were about $2,800.00 when new. Argo is Green, so it matches the one I have now. I also think it has the low geared Trans, but I can't confirm that right now.

Guy wants $3,500.00, but I just happen to know that he is looking to purchase a hunting rifle for his daughter. I just happen to have about 32 "spare" rifles at the moment, so I think a trade might be in order.

So, If the winch works, and the new carb is worth $400 and change, AND the tracks are worth $2,800, by my calculations that makes the Argo pretty much a FREEBEE...................My wife disagrees (what does she know anyway, she rides a quad)

I'm thinking I should go get it.

    Opinions?

LOL, I'm starting to get "Bogged Down" with Fixing/Servicing projects. Just a quick lit of items that need regular servicing in my yard/shop

5 Snowmobiles ( AC 340 Jag and a EXT 580, 2 Yam Phazors, and my 700 Mtn Max)
2 Mowers (Ride on and push)
      Rotor Tiller
Gas Weed Whacker and a Brushsaw
      2 Chainsaws
      3 quads
2 Crewcab Pickups ("mine" and "hers")
      My Jetboat, plus other OB's for other boats (175hp, 30hp, 25hp, 20hp, 9.9hp x 2)
      2 Generators (3300 W and a 650 W)
      Sea-Doo (185hp Supercharged)

And this is just the stuff with engines

My shop is starting to look like a Lube and Filter Whse

I know that I'm not going to get much sympathy here, but at the same time, I'm starting to feel a little overwhelmed. I want the Argo, but I also want to start downsizing a bit (Wife wants me to downsize alot)

Alright, alright, enough whining. Just had to get that off my chest.

I think we all have been in that boat before...or that jetski, or ATV, or... It sucks when you finally get some free time, you start thinking about everything you need to do and it almost becomes a second job.

With that said, what's one more Argo added to that list? You can just get rid of a chainsaw or the rotor tiller and call it even.

Mike, I really like the way you think. I need the chainsaws, but I would gladly pitch that Rotortiller into the junkyard......don't have time for no stupid garden anyway. Do you need one by any chance?
Also,if I trade a gun, that's just one less to clean and reload ammo for.

Can't shoot but one at a time. Trade the weapon get the Argo your daughter will be wanting one and she can help track gear to your river hide out. Or "Take a chance...be bold get rid of the Quad! Probably rather fight a Wolf!
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

              No sympathy here RD!

Get rid of one of the quads, the rototiller, and both mowers. Pick up a set of cheap knobby tires for the new conquest and just starting driving around the yard. That will take care of any grass, and shallow till the soil for you all with one machine!
See? It's all about diversification. The specialized "one use only" sort of machines end up getting replaced by those that do it all.

You're welcome any time Roger, and if I don't have enough machines I will swing by some buddies places and "borrow" some extras

Any luck with the Deer? We don't have many of those around here, mostly Moose, Elk, and Caribou.

I don't mind helping, in fact I enjoy doing it. I just..........................well, I just think that I would feel weird having a friend work on my machine without at least helping him. Some guys are just INCAPABLE, I understand that, It's the guys that go drinking or smoking CRACK the night before and then don't feel like getting out of bed that I can't stand.

Gotta love it. Some friends I know that "can you help me with....." means "Can you do....... for me" But The best are the ones who have NO CLUE, but question EVERY LITTLE thing you do, saying you're doing it wrong or too slow, etc...
