  • Argo headlight upgrade

Just thought I'd share this. I recently did a little research on headlight bulbs. Argo uses an 800 series bulb 37.5 w, forgot the number but it uses the same connector as an 890 50w bulb. I swapped mine out the other day and they are awesome. The wire should be more than good for the minimal increase in amp draw. Not sure if argo was just trying to be easy on the charging system or what? I have an alternator so I'm not worried. This should worl for most argos mine is a 2005 avenger. Let me know what you guys think.

I'll have to give it a try in my Frontier. Are they common bulbs available at any auto part store?

yes they're a common foglight/driving light. Just bring the old bulb to the store. Let me know how it works.

Another idea. HID. It would draw less than halogens leaving more juice for other accessories.

I was thinking HID's myself. My buddie got a set for his 4wheeler for under $50 shipped and they look awesome and are soo bright!

HID's are the way to go. Now I wish I could find clear lens.

              Ha !

I use LED bulbs in my Max to save power for the Heated throttle cable. it's pure white but less powerfull than the real headlights; not that I drive very fast anyway.

I recently installed a pair of Vison X Solo Solstice LED driving lights on an 08 Avenger 750 EFI, great solution for lighting. The Vision X people sent me some extra lenses to test and I decided the Medium Beam (formerly the SPOT) was the best. The factory oval headlights are OK as floods but lack any long distance functionality. The Vision X is an LED matrix that draws only .75 amps each but produces about the same light as a 70 - 100 watt halogen- tremendous amount of light for a slow moving Argo. They are very small, can be ganged together on all four sides, and can be mounted on a handle for a search light. The case is cast aluminum- I think the light would withstand just about any impact. They easily mounted inside the brush guard. The only ouch was the price...tmwoffroad.com had them for $99 each and free shipping. Will be putting up a video soon. -- Roy
