hi folks, hope to get some more of that good advice again. my 2001 argo bigfoot is running like a top after the carb cleaning i gave it. had the snow this past weekend up here in new england and was running around in the yard and street when i noticed a strange sound. i looked under the hood and noticed that both front wheel chains had jumped off one of the sprokets. so obviously needs replacing, right? i've heard deleting a link or going half link can cause more damage, maybe? anyway can someone point me in the right direction as for purchasing good quality chain at a reasonable price. i have found the argo chain, part number eludes me right now, runs $37.00 for each front chain of 42 links. i don't mind the price but is there better quality chain out there? the machine has 166 hours on it as far as the hobbs meter goes and i assume they have never been replaced, is that a reasonable amount of time for a chain?
    thanks in advance

Chain last depending on how hard the use is. I would try an auto or tractor supply store. Get good chains. Poor chain will wear fast and if you think replacing chain is expensive try pricing the sprockets as well as the time to replace them. I have a 99 conquest with a three cylinder chevy sprint engine (65 hp) in it. I have close to 200 hrs on it and I'm looking at replacing chains. I grease the wheel bearings and seals and put a gear oil and grease mixture on the chains twice a year. I have very little leaks and have'nt replaced a bearing or seal since I got it.

I'm hoping to get out by new year and will post pictures.
