  • How is the used market this year?

Hi- I am in northern wisconsin. I began looking last February for a used argo 8x8, mostly on craigslist. The available units seem to go in cycles, with several for sale in feb- march and several available in the summer. Things got busy, i stopped looking until after Christmas. As of today there isnt any 8x8's for sale within several hundred miles of northern wisconsin. Did everyone that was hurting for cash sell last year, still too close to the holidays, economy got better and nobody told us up here, luck of the draw or what? Even the dealers i spoke with dont have much to offer in used machines. Any insights?

I haven't seen many used 8x8s for sale lately, but do come across 6x6s. I suspect that is because 1) 6x6s are more common, and 2) a lot of folks are reluctant to sell now unless they really need the money. It is definitely a buyer's market compared to a couple of years ago.

I just picked up a used Conquest a couple weeks ago, so I was looking at prices online. Not really to much out there right now for 8x8's. Even right across Canada, I think I only came across 6 or 8 of them. Most of them were in the 5-7 Thou range. I believe that there are quite a few more out there, but are just listed locally (wherever they are).

The machines are out there but you have to be quick on the draw. I missed an 07 Avenger 2 hours after it was listed on Craigslist last week. Only had 46 hours on it.
With the prices of new machines as high as they are the used market is strong and buyers don't hesitate when they find a clean used machines that fits their needs.

Just got done searching craigslist and I saw all sorts of Ago 8x8's for sale from $2k to $20k lots in the 6-6500 range. Use searchtempest and you can find them easily.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Don't despair. There are some for sale but the 8x8 market up here is a little light right now. With hunting season just ended, ice fishing getting going strong, and all the snow we have, a lot of machines are in prime time use right now. Most reasonable priced machines are getting snapped up within a couple of days of them being listed for sale. I seem to have pretty good luck finding them. If I had bought all of the used Argos for sale up here that I have looked at in the last six months, I'd have had to build a new pole barn just to keep them in lol.

Thanks for the feedback. There are a lot more 6x6's available, I may start asking some questions about those while the search goes on for a 8x8.

Hi Folks-Good News! I ran a wanted ad and found a guy about 250 miles from me with a well equipped 2001 Conquest. Std tracks, soft top cab, windshield, winch, less than 200 hours. Would love to have a new loaded Avenger, but hey better to have a used Conquest in the driveway instead of a new Avenger in my dreams

Congrats on getting the Conquest. Be sure to post up some pictures of your machine and let us see what you have. Hope it checks out okay. Are you anywhere near the St Croix or Namakagon? Some of us hope to do a little riding one of these weekends.

I survived a 600 mile trip from hell and got back to Ladysmith WI with my old truck, car hauler, and new used 2001 Conquest unscathed. I walked into a tire shop in a tiny town 250 miles from home in near white out conditions and said I'll buy any snow tires you have if you can put them on now. So much for planning ahead.

I got the Conquest because the previous owner's employer went overseas. A way too common story. The machine is in very good shape with just under 200 hours. It appears to have been well cared for with just a few minor issues. I do have some questions about tracks and chain that I will put in other related threads. I had a tarp over it with just the front end visible on the trailer. At almost every stop someone would walk up with a comment.

Congrats! I too have been on the drive from hell. When I found my max II I drove some 500+ miles. It was last January and It wasn't the snow it got cold. like 12 below air temp. You may be used to that in Ladysmith but in the valley we are not. The whole way home everyone that passed us stared at the max and when we would stop for gas people would ask what is that.

Congrats on the machine. A drive from hell for a machine isn't so bad, all's well that ends well. The drive from hell I took was bad cause the machine was a pile of s.... errr, JUNK. The condition was described and pictured with a bit of bias, and omitting showing certain things.
