Hi I have a 85 Argo 8X8 with a tecumseh 0h160 thinking about up gradeing to a honda 20hp vtwin was anyone made this mod? If so can anyone tell me if I will have to make mounting plate? Will the old clutchs work? is their enougth room in front of the trans? or will I have to more the engine forward? Will the 20hp have too much torque and be to hard on the trans.? any advice will be helpful thanks.

what upper body style do you have? if it says Argo in the hood and has flat front where the winch goes you have to cut out some plastic where the winch goes, yes you need new mounting plate which will be custom along with the exhaust and the hood, yes you can use your same clutch, different size belt is also required, a nice upgrade but not a direct bolt in for that body style so you will have a few thing to figure out, yes your 8x8 trans will hold up most are geared lower anyway should say CG i think on top of trans'99 Conquest 104hp turbocharged intercooled EFI Chevy Sprint conversion

Hey Luvtohunt,
I've made this modification twice before. The final result is an awesome argo. The Honda really fills up the engine compartment. But I never had to cut any plastic.[though I was tempted]
Start by removing the top of the body from lower half. This will make everything easy especially the new exhaust piping.
-when mounting the Honda to the power pack, keep it as very tight to the trans and as low as possible.
-with the trans in the machine lay the Honda on the plate and put the top back on to see if everything clears.
-To keep the exhaust simple I just ran the two pipes into a collector can then piped that to the original muffler
-If your Techumseh was using the Salisbury clutch I would change over to the Power block [Ichanged front and rear before I set the Motor]
-Switch the valve covers so the oil fill is on the rear cylinder.
Hope this helps, I put some pictures on here a while back I don't know where they go though.
Cheers Dean

Beats the hell out of that old tecumseh. u need a new clutch if your tecumseh has a tapper shaft
