Can a person use a different set of tires other than ATV tires if they were going to only run the machine with tracks. I realize the machine may not work the best with out the tracks on but I only plan to use it in the snow.

In the extreme cold the tire pressure goes up and down alot causing the argo to drive crooked at times. I would like the tires to stay the same size regardless of teh temp outside. I wonder If I could have them filled with foamed. It would probably make for a rough ride but I am not sure I would notice the difference with the tracks on in the snow.

I've tried that (We have N2 generators at work), You still have the expansion and contraction, although it's slightly less, it's still noticeable when going from a warm shop out to cold temps (By cold temps, I'm saying -15C to however cold you are). Keep in mind that the "air" you are breathing right now IS about 80% N2 and 19.5% Oxygen.Originally posted by mccastlej View PostYou could take it to your local tire shop, and have them filled with nitrogen instead.

Yes is the answer. The issue is whether or not the tires have enough traction to turn the tracks. A little slippage is fine but you don't want too much. Keep in mind that conditions change in the field, with water the tires will be very slippery, mud will have more friction, generally.Originally posted by ndcommander View PostCan a person use a different set of tires other than ATV tires if they were going to only run the machine with tracks. Tires can be aired up or down dependant on the conditions encountered. Air pressure will solve most slippage problems but be careful to not put in so much that tracks are so tight that the chains bind.
Over the years I've seen some really bald tires work sucessfully with tracks.

I think you will find as long as the tires are not too wide (tight in the track) and you have upper and inner body clearance they will work. Last winter I removed all drive chains but the ones going to the front tires. That way if you have a low tire the chaines wont be stressed.
