  • Tracks & Chain windup?

    img004.pdf
I just wandered if any one has seen this before. I was having trouble (what’s new) with the tracks. When I put them on chains were rattling and the more weight the worse it got. All the chains were adjusted and still make noise, Argo called it chain windup. Told me they had hired a so called genius to study the tracks and this is what he came up with. The file they sent me is too large to up load on this site. I hope the file I did get on works. It shows the tires in size and rotation of tread and air pressure recommended. They recommend to measure all tire at 5psi then use chart to eliminate chain windup. it does work...

    Found too late!

I tore off the left rear stub axle hub this past weekend. I guess reading the manual makes sense as it clearly states the following:
    - front and rear tires at 5psi must be within 1/2 diameter of each other, with the larger one on the rear
    - rear tire pressure of 3psi, middle tires at 3psi, and then the front tire from 1-3psi
    - ensure there is 1 1/2" - 2" of space between the top of the centre wheels and underside of track

We were hearing the windup and then yesterday the rear tire hub pulled itself out from the axle. I checked the other ones and they are all fine and everything else is fine.

I was close to home, so I removed the right side track (the tire was jamming an movement as it had moved itself sideways) and got back home on one left track.
