  • New guy, What type of machine?

Hi guys I am new around here and hope to be able to learn something. I am just starting to learn about Argos and want one for my duck camp here in Alberta. I want to use it to get out to my duck blinds with 3 or 4 hunters. I think I will need the tracks on it for sure. Does anyone have any suggestions of what type of machine for this kind of thing? I am wanting to spend $6k or less. If anyone knows of any good deals for something that I may be looking for please let me know. In the meantime I am studying these things out and trying to do some homework

    Welcome Nube fellow Albertan.

Finding a good Argo with tracks for under 6K that would be like shooting a 20lb Mallard
Check out kijiji there are a couple of em there in the Edmonton area for sale try to co for a late 90's early 2000s Conquest 8x8 more room for decoys and if you do get tracks they have the nessesary bearing extensions fore and aft.
Before U buy check them out in detail unless its a fixer upper deal.

Right on. It looks like you live just out my window. I live just off Wye Rd. I noticed a few for sale an have some leads but what questions does a guy ask the owner to know if things are up to snuff. Maybe I will start a new thread as this one seems a little slow.

        Welcome
Finding a Conquest rigged with tracks like you want is possible. Both of mine were in that price range. My latest one is a 97, was reciently rebuilt but then left out in the wheather to fill with rain and rust up a bit. With rubber tracks, I picked it up for about $3,000.

I would suggest that you don't NEED tracks. Maybe you do, but I'm one of those that think I can go 98% of the places I want to go without them. Upgrade the tires to 24" Frontiers, and you're golden. Tracks are for snow, IMHO
I would hate to see you NOT get a machine becouse you couldn't find one with tracks that you will probably never need.

RD is right I want tracks for snow. that way I can hunt Buffalo and thats January in Alberta lol.

I myself live just of wye on 220.
Allso with the Conquest the 20hp lc Kawi is a great engine. and as for things to ask its all pertaining to hours of use and maintainance how often and who did it, the rest its all on looking at them.
if you find one in the near future I can check it out with you show you what problems to look for I would show you on my old girl but she's only just starting to burst from the snow like a crokus lol.

PM me if you find one I work A/Noon shift and my home buisness wont start eating up my time till the snow's all gone the newer ones Im not up on but the old ones i know just been out of touch price wise.

Thanks guys. Moosetalker, I sent you a PM. I found a 2001 with Tracks for $6000 and I think it has 300-350 hours on it he said! He stores it inside the garage and says it is maintained. If you want to come for a drive give me a call. I sent you a message with my number. I just called the guy and plan on going over around 7:45

O.K just got back a little bit ago. The Argo I went to look at tonight is an 8 wheel 2001 with 530 hours on it. It has tracks with it and 2 extra wheels. Within the last 100 hours all of the bearings, sprockets ,chains have been replaced. He does a spring oil change and grease job on it every year. One thing he shared with me that I would not have noticed is that the chain came off once and put a 2x2" hole in the floor. Other than that he fired it right up and started fine. He started it that morning but tonight it fired up no problem at all. He is going to pump the tires up a bit and clear soem junk out of the way and I should be able to take it for a spin in the next few days. For $6000 what do you guys think? Anything really to be concerned about? I think I may have found my new toy. I'll jack it up and recheck the bearings and I think it is good to go.
