Yes, sorry, I meant to send you a PM to tell you why. It's not honesty vs dishonesty, if you will look at the site rules (http://www.6x6world.com/forums/6x6-w...rum-rules.html), the first one says that we take the "be polite" rule seriously. I understand the point you were trying to make, it was just the delivery that went against that. If you want to discuss it in detail, feel free to PM me. Again, sorry for not sending you a PM to tell you why I deleted your post.

    Regards,

    Mike

I think you forgot the price of the wheels. The tires alone are $109/pr. on Ebay. The wheels are an additional $50-75 each plus shipping.
The sad reality is that tires/wheels add up fast especially when you are buying 6 or 8.
Ah your right, the picture has the rim, however they do not say that it's only a tire, a bit misleading. The tires are good, just need rims!

So I got it, the argo has a full service history, the rust is mostly in the back, which needs to be redone. Its complete with everything, manuals, all the parts, everything. No holes in the body, no leaks, transmission is fine and the motor is fine. The inner bearings look good, the outer's need changing, apparently from the service history they changed the seals all the time.

The body looks dirty from the pictures however it's not dirt, its actually camo paint. It's supposed to look like it's been sitting for a century. The inside is painted the same way and easily came off, the outside doesn't come off with the pressure washer, it takes some Jasco. It's orange!

One thing, we couldn't get it to start when we got home, The ignition is bad so we tried to trigger the solenoid nothing, then hot wired the power to the positive side of the coil, still nothing. Ran tests in the manual, the coil is supposed to get between 4-5ohms between the prongs however we got 6. We can't seem to make the coil trigger a spark, it turns on power too it, gets hot... It's been a while since I worked on anything so old, is that a bad thing?

Sounds like a bad coil, but before you buy a new one, check and make sure your points are set and functioning properly. If your points are touching when you crank it, but you don't see an arc, you probably need a new coil.

So my bf stripped the paint from the argo today, its bright orange. it has 2 minor cracks, easily fixable.

It's the coil, we pulled one from my other car, plugged it into one of the cylinders and it started for a second.

Here's a list of stuff we need so far...

          1 Solenoid ($20)
1 Coil ($40) -getting one from a Harley v twin
6 rims ($42) -hoping that someone here has found cheaper ones...
          2 tires ($60)
          6 outer seals ($30)

Let me know if you guys know any cheaper places to get parts for this thing. I'd like to keep the costs down to $900.

SO one of the axles ate through the hub, we tried to take it out but the shear pin is stuck, it just mushroomed and we had to cut off the end. We tried to drill it out with a Carbide bit, doesn't work though, it simply wont drill through. We were wondering how do you remove a rusted sheer pin from this thing? I am almost considering cutting the axle and trying to find a new one. I don't think they make the sheer pin style axle though

got the pins out after a couple hours of hammering (1 axle). However cannot remove the cog. put two pipe wrenches on the axle and the cog and tried to turn it, unable to break it free so far...

Parts prices expected to pay to get this running...
              $100 Argo
              $105 6 rims
              $100 2 tires
              $30 Harley Twin ignition coil
              $10 Ignition Solenoid
              $30 Seal Hub
              $42 6 outer seals
              $120 6 outer bearings
              $20 50-2 chain keys

              $557 Total

take a closer look, and you might find that you have 2 (or 3) shear pins per sprocket. they are usually clocked 90 degrees from the one you've already found, and may be on the other side of the sprocket. depending on how rusty or greasy things are, they can be very well disguised.

I only found 2 on the rear sprocket so far, will look again to make sure there isnt any left. I bet if there is we've already bent it.

...So we took two pipe wrenches, one's 4ft long, the other is 2ft (with 4ft metal pipe on the end) and reaped on it. Didn't budge. We're thinking of getting the torch out and heating up the cog (they dont make them anymore apparently)
