  • New to me, 1994 Conquest 8x8

Hello, I'll start by saying great site. Very informative, and I'm happy to be a part of it now.

Well I bought this beast and probably overpaid by a pretty decent chank o' change. It has over 1000hrs registered on the dail, but i bought it because the shafts were good the bearings had been done recently and the Kawasaki 20horse purrs like a kitten. (Except that until it's warm a little gas makes it cough and die like a geriatric dog.) My brother had gotten one last year the 93' to my 94'.

I do have some issues. The left brake is being a pain and going spongy (I've bled and replaced the Dot-5. Thinking maybe the rubber on top isn't sealing as well as the right since it has shorter screws, or ill be changing hoses.)
That isn't my big issue however. The chains on the right side are amazingly loose and make some awful noises. (It's since been parked.) Sprockets still look O.K.. But i want to do all of the chains new. Minus the drive chains coming off the transmission. All of the 50-2 chain though. Wondering if anyone has dealt with Diamond Chain?

Motion Industries - Parametric Details - 50-2 RIV 100 FT REEL CHAIN

    Hopefully that works.

    Thanks for reading!

Try replacing the Rubber seals on the plunger in the Left Brake "Master Cylinder". Sounds like they are getting old and are not as flexable(Rubbery) as they should be.
I've not heard too much wrong with Diamond Chain. I use Tsubaki, but that's more of an "availability" thing than anything.

I just went through the whole chain thing. I put Tsubaki 50-2 on mine. You can get much cheaper chain but I decided to go with quality (yes more expensive) over the import and poorer quality stuff. Also I left my transmission chain as is (it's 40-2) as it seemed to be in good shape I just made a little adjustment to tighten it. Machine works much better now...no more slappin'!
