  • Conquest primary clutch removal

I want to pull the primary clutch off My 99' conquest, what kind of puller can I use? Does Argo have a special one?
May as well ask before I reck something.(even though it goes against the grain!)

I'm not sure you need a puller. I think that is a straight shaft. Take the bolt out of the end of the engine shaft and slide it off.

If it is a straight shaft,is there a keyway, what's to stop the crankshaft from spinning on the clutch?
      I appreciate the help

It will have a keyway but it should still slide off.

Okay,it didn't slide off,is my next best bet some heat applied to the center of the clutch, with caution so as to not hurt the crank seal?(950 hours on the unit and I don't know if it's ever been off)
Thanks again for your input Slim.

            Not quite yet.
Did it move at all? Did you try to put a couple "prybars" behind the clutch to push it off? When/If you get it to move a bit, then you will have a better chance of getting some Penetrating Lube onto the shaft.

Before you stick a torch in there, you might want to pull the clutch apart as much as possible. At least get the weights and spring out of it. Also not a bad idea to put about 4 inches of water into the tub before you start waving a Gas Axe around.

I'm in ft St John BC ,I ended up pulling the outer part of the clutch out and cleaning it up, putting in the spacer RD came up with, then putting it back together.it's not going to come off with out a puller that's for sure. I noticed a lot of wear on the weights, is that something a guy should order? Also is $15 per ft standard for chain in my part of the world
                  I apreaciate the input guys
