First Video of New Argo 6x6
First video of my new Argo 6x6 580, purchased from Adair Argo -- I couldn't be more satisfied with the machine or Tim at Adair's (the guy is a true pro who loves what he does). Due to having cerebral palsy, I moved the brake to the right handgrip, so that I can drive with just one hand, and added a padded hip/seat belt to keep my lower body in place -- and drive her like a champ. I went with the 3.3 low gearing, and with the 18hp Vanguard, torque is phenomenal. It was a tough call between the 580 and the 650, and I'm so glad that I went with the 580, giving me all of the performance that I ever need, at a terrific price point.
It's interesting in that some people note having a learning curve to 6-wheel "skid-steer" vehicles. However, being a life-long power wheelchair user and manufacturing power mobility products like power wheelchairs and scooters, it's very intuitive to my everyday mobility. Today's power wheelchairs are center-wheel drive, and handle strikingly similar to a 6-wheeler in steering, so when my family's like, "How did you just squeeze that Argo past the van, and back it into the corner of the garage?" I note that it's totally natural to me, handling just like a power chair!
Below is a link to my first video, and actually my first time out -- so it gives some idea of how well it works for me. You'll see me stop once or twice -- as when crossing the abandon railroad tracks -- as I'm a thinker type, and try to use intelligence to negotiate challenging terrain over brute force.
I couldn't get the embedded video player to work, so maybe Mike can edit the link with the right embeded code. But, for now, here's the direct YouTube link:
