  • Do i need to get extentions on my axles to put the track kit on my response?

Hi everyone....im new to these here argos....i want to get a set of tracks for my machine, but i was wondering if i have to get wheel extensions also??......my machine is a 1997 argo response 8x8......thanks for all your help in advance..

I'm replying to your thread since it hasn't gotten a response yet but please don't take what I say as 100% accurate because I have zero experience with tracks outside of what I have learned from other members here. With that said, I think whether or not you need axle extensions depends on which tracks you get. The standard (narrower) tracks do not require axle extensions while the larger super tracks and the rubber tracks do require extensions. Maybe a track guy can confirm or refute what I just said. Sorry I'm not more help than that.

You might consider other options to the stock Argo Tracks. Personally I would look long and hard at the Adair Tracks, I've never tried them but I will sooner or later.
If I understand correctly, you can get them as a standard width, and then start adding "width" extensions out to about as far as you want to go.

I bought my poly tracks I called Adair and asked them about there tracks ( before they were big news on this site) and I asked them how they did in the snow. They said they won't float on powder and will dig down real easy. My guess is theybare ok in the snow but no snow tracks. I have tried the argo polystyrene in the mud and was not impressed. I think we still need 2 sets of tracks to be readynfor both seasons. I can tell you I will have a set of adapts soon if I don't find another Bigfoot for my old man

            R.D. is correct.

You can get them up to 21". I'm not sure about extensions on a response with the standard 14" tracks. Obviously these ones would require extensions.

I think that version just might do as well in powder as the others do in mud. I have 17" which are extended on the outside only as much as this photo shows on the inside. (no wheel spacers required on my frontier) and the cost for the extra 3" was like $130. They came with mud flaps included. R.D. Adair tracks are made for your "commute" to your cabin. They would be AWESOME in that mud and muskeg.
