I have never mounted a CB on an ATV before, but I know that for best performance you should mount it as high as you possibly can with it grounded to the frame. Jumper wires for grounding are OK as long as they're short, but It's better to just have a grounded mount. It should be mounted as high and as close to the center of the vehicle as possible for best performance. DO NOT buy a fiberglass antenna, they aren't worth $#%&!!!!! I like the 102" whip antennas the best, they give the best performance. I had one on my '83 GMC with my Galaxy radio and an 18' coax, and my SWR was 1:1 and it had a range of about 15 miles. I put the same radio in my new Chevy, with 2 cophased 62" antennas and it gets about 1.2:1 SWR and I have about a 10-12 mile range. (Keep in mind that the area where I live is very flat.) For you I would suggest a single 62" on a spring, mounted to a roll bar if you have one, or ground your bumper and mount it there. Use an 18' coax, coil up the excess and stash it in a safe, out of the way place. This should get you the best performance for your Argo. I buy most all of my CB stuff from Sparky's CB Shack: Sparkys CB Shack is the Nation's Choice for CB Radio If you just want a radio that hears and talks, just go and get some Raido Shack crap and throw it on there.
