1980 argo 6x6 wining help

newbie here, bare with me please.

The ignition switch has 5 poles,

marked "B" (battery +), "S" (start), "L" (lights) "G" (ground) and "M" (magneto)

with 3 key positions (off - light on - start)

how to keep the lights on while I'm driving?

right now I can only turn on the lights by turning the key to "light on" position.

"L" is not hot when the key is in start(run) position?

Please help.

Start the motor and then move the key to the "lights on" position. The motor should continue running in both the on and lights on positions.
