  • 1993 Argo magnum 8X8 values

    Hello All,
I'm new to this site and AATV's, I have been negotiating the price over the last couple days but not sure of the real value of this unit. Need some help. I'm looking at it as a project. I have restored several boats, cars and other units in the past but this will be new.
The Argo is a 1993 Argo Magnum 8X8, V891-23. It has not been started in a couple years and the owner said it ran hot when it was last used. The owner tried to start it a couple days ago but it would turn over but didn't start. I have not looked at the vehicle in person yet because it's 4 hours from me. I have several current pic's and it looks like it's in reasonable condition for the year. I also checked NADA and Kelly's blue book values but not real sure how useful they are in this case. I realize I may need to replace or upgrade the engine and that could cost me 1000 to 2000. What do you think a good price would be? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards
    Bob

Its hard to say without seeing it but what kind of shape is it in and what accesseries does it have? Magnums are great machines with great standard features especially front bearing extensions and the Kohler 18hp last forever so if its in good shape but non running i would pay somewhere around $1500 for it

      EightWheeler,
      Thanks for the reply.
It's overall condition appears to be pretty good. I can't tell if it has the bearing extensions but it does have the Kohler 18 HP magnum motor.

I have a 1988 Magnum 8x8 in good shape and bought it for $2100 up here in Canada. Love the machine! Have around 650 hours on it and she still fires right up and purrs.

The final price will be between 1500 and 2000 US. I don't think that will be too bad. I just wanted to see what everyone else thought. Folks that actually own one.
Once again thanks for the response. I appreciate any and all feedback.
          Regards

Well, I guess I should either start a new thread or rename this one. I pulled he trigger and bought the ARGO today. I will send the check tomorrow and work out the pick up day. So I consider this a good day. I am treating this as a project so I know I won't be disappointed. Thanks for all the feedback.

                      Morgan,
Looks like your firewall is there. You can see it in the photo with the key on the seat.

When you start into cleaning it up here's a suggestion. Plan on pulling the engine, transmission & sub frame assembly out. This way you can clean the engine, transmission and inside the tub with degreaser & a pressure washer. Its pretty easy to pull them out and it sure makes it nicer to access all the components.

                        Thanks AlaskaGrizzly,
It is there I spoke to the PO last night and he told me he had it. I also had to go back and check the pick too. lol
I really like your idea on the tear down and will take that approach when I get her home. I already have a good pressure washer too.
                        Thanks again

                              Thanks eightwheeler,
Perhaps I will be able to get her going before Busco Beach in October. I think I remember it is in North Carolina and I might be able to make it and try her out, plus meet some others on here.
                              Sounds like a great time.
