Recently purchased a 02 Argo Bigfoot with 280 hours and standard Argo tracks. I was driving yesterday and it was jumping out of low gear intermittently, any ideas, could it just be linkage or something more severe?

My guess is the problem is in the Trans, if it is a problem. Is there a possibility that you were not getting the shifter into the correct position for Low Gear? Not trying to be an ass by asking that, it's common to shift into Low or Rev and not have the little "Spring ball" drop into the shaft dimple, which locks the shifter in the correct position. More common for reverse than Low (For reverse, sometimes the firewall plastic needs to be trimmed back so the shifter can be moved far enough to the left to get in the correct position)
Anyway, if it has happend many times, where the shifter was not completely shifted into the correct place, then the gears will slowly walk away from each other untill they kick apart. This causes the gear faces to become slightly rounded and the problem becomes progressivly worse over time.
On my machines, I have notched the plastic under the shifter, so that when the shifter is in the correct spot, the shifter handle drops into the notch. This helps younger, newer operators know that the shifter is in fact in the right place for whatever gear they are looking for. It also keeps older, more experienced operators from getting to complacent.
