Can anyone tell me if any structural modifications need to be made on the vanguard if I swap the 16 hp engine with a 23hp? Both are Briggs vanguard horizontal 1" shaft engines. I know the muffler will have to change, but what are the other pitfalls before I begin on my own.

Its basiclly the same small block as Briggs calls them. Need a new exhaust and do your own wiring, and prob
need heavier weights in the clutch. Thats about it, be prepaired for a well performing machine.
Add some 24'' tires and you basiclly have a Frontier model.

Thanks. I bought a Bigfoot instead, because after looking into the conversion of the vanguard, I was basically trying to build it into a Bigfoot. Now I have 25 inch tires and a 18 hp vanguard.Comment
