I have one of the quieter Conquests Transmitions I know of in one of my machines, and I also have the LOUDEST one that I know of in another machine. The quieter one is Med Geared and the loud one is Low Geared. The low geared one has almost 700hrs on it, and has been loud since I got it (at about 120hrs). Other than the extreme noise, it seems to operate very well, never had any problems with it. I guess what I'm getting at is it depends on what noise is actually coming from his trans. If it's just gear whine, it's probably fine. I know they CAN be made quiet, but it's also commonly accepted that Spur Gears are noisy. Also depends on what YOU consider to be noisy.

Well I took the Argo for a quick ride around my property to refresh my memory on what the sound actually was. The transmission does indeed whine.
All in all everything functions completely fine.

You guys will be fine. A little whine is no big deal.

It's the big whines that can be a problem, like , "Where you taking me for dinnnner?" or "But I reaaallly wanted one with more karats" Now that might be a problem.

            "No, I won't order dinner."
            Eats half my plate.

I also have 2 conquests - the 2003's transmission is much less noisy than the 2000's. I bought the 2000 after the 2003 and soon after I got it I took the tranny apart to inspect it. I expected to see some damage and found absolutly nothing. I've got another 100 hrs on it and its just as loud and works just a well.

Typical signs of a bad tranny's I've been around (only two) are they jump out of gear or have a lot of "back lash" sound when you go on and off the throttle (much like a bad rear end in a car).

Sounds like you are just fine.
