  • Brake caliper FAIL

I am many miles from America. I loaned my 87 I/C out (just bought it last week, have not even seen it) for a field test, and had it dropped off broke at the dealer for repairs. Turns out the left brake caliper BROKE OFF. Is this normal wear and tear, metal fatigue? Can you even pull on a brake hard enought to do this? I am going to need one, they are hydraulic brakes. I will post in the classifieds, just wondering if you have ever encountered this. Lucky for me I have a few months till redeploy

Figured it out. You can spend from 120 to 180 bucks for OEM argo parts. Or you can go crazy and do something cool. Found you adjustable hard core calipers. They should stop a train, let alone an argo. off the top of my head i dont think our break rotors are over 1/4 inch thick. the only thing that sucks though, if you buy one you probbaly have to buy two (that way it stays symmetrical on the breaking applications.)

NEW MCP KARTING CALIPER W/PADS,EP,.15-.25",RED,SPECIAL | eBay
just brows ebay for "go kart calipers" or "go kart breaks"

just make sure that you use DOT 5 fluid (stupid expensive, but if your driving hard, your going to need it). all the new argos run dot 5, i have read a few threads.

and for me, to up grade

I like it BUT, you know I want to hit the snow running this Winter, not tinkering. I am hoping for a used caliper deal! Those hydraulic brakes sure do drive nice, too

but if in the used break the seals are bad.. back to square one... maybe stock is the best bet. I dont know if you want to go cheap, or OEM ?
