  • Driven Clutch Sheave Loose

The inner sheave of the driven clutch on my 8x8 Argo I/C is loose on the hub at the rivets. Has anyone experienced this before? It's operating, but is only a matter of time until this puppy flies apart.

I'm kicking around my options. Try taking it apart and smashing down the rivets? Drill out and replace the rivets (prompting questions of where to buy them?), or just replace the clutch totally ($$$).

    Any help guys?

    Thanks,

    Planter Bob

I'm a "fix it unless it can't be" kind of guy. If there is evidence of stress cracking on the sheaves I would buy new.

I recognize your name from elsewhere. You may know someone that has a pneumatic squeezer and that's where I would go with it. But I bet the current rivets are work hardened and you'll need to replace them leaving me, like you, wondering where you get those rivets.

We have heated old rivets up and tightened them up and then we used mig welder to spot them to the sheave. We have run ours over a year and its still tight. But next time it will need replaced! as for new rivets any industrial supply store would have them.
