  • Idler wheels with a subframe, and extended tracks

Problem: Submerged tracks don't swim fast
Solution: Create more floatation by adding a subrame (think 8x8 chassis stacked on top of 6x6 chassis, and stub axles with idler wheels,

Increased buoyancy. Increased ground clearance. Increased water speed. Increased cost.

    Maybe proportioned similar to this

Hi buddy! it took me a while to find this online. Jwheelz - a new bolt-on attachment for ATVs and UTVs

seems like they would float better, give greater lateral stability in the water, and help the argo swim better, without increasing drag when on dry ground, unless you get into the mud and the crud. let me know what you think!

Those J-Wheels look impressive -- and seemingly less expensive or involved as tracks. I'd love to see how they'd work on an Argo in the snow. My two concerns are that they add a bunch of width, and must be unbolted for removal (if they could be easily popped on and off, it would help the width issue).

i think they remove pretty easy

just start you tubing the videos for them. i think i saw that they are only held on by 3 bolts or something like that. Defanitly faster install/uninstall than tracks, but the wider stance might not be the best

I have spoken with Andrew Johnson (jwheels) about this product, and I will tell you that it is interesting, but it will not fit onto 22 inch wheels with any amount of practical modification. Yes, they have good lateral stab, yes they are wide. Always pros and cons. The thing that got me thinking about the about setup is the build of army tank tracks, and the knowledge that tracks with wheels above are fast in water if they sit high in the water. The exception would have to be the fastrack (youtube)

that is true. Same princiapal as a paddle whee. right? More of the top track out of the water means it floats faster and runs hardr right?

there have been set up like those you describe ive seen them on vechil on tv .I think your weight ad plus the drag we just dont have enough machine.now if you drop your top tires and only use the back set as a drive the front as idlers and the lower set as boogie wheels than i think u have a chance but you are starting to get into a true tack machine than .an idea for a patient that i not sure honda did not take off with it why not a small track vec that goes like hell.say a 650 motor 24 2 12 inch tracks top speed around 45 .there you go i give away my idea. but than i always wanted to take the skis of my snowmobile and add wheels for summer too.
