Since a Argo is basically a tub with wheels on it. If it gets caught in rain or snow storm how do you get the water or snow out of it? Would the water leak through the floor causing the chain and sprocket to rust? Just wondering.
Yes it will fill with water but there are drain plugs to allow the water to drain. Most older unused machines are ruined that way from sitting outside for years. The drain holes get plugged with leaves/debris and everything starts to rust.
A machine that is used a lot and happens to get full of water dont normally get damaged because with proper maintenance chains and bearings are properly lubed. Just be sure to drain them out as soon as possible and dont let the water sit.
I agree with Larry, but Tarps are cheap and the cleaner you keep the inside as far as keeping water and debris out the better you are. Remember where these machines take you it is a long walk back. Take care of it and the machine will take care of you. Just my 2 cents.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"
i dont put the plugs in unless i know im going into the water. (they hang on the key with quick connects, and there are more in the tool box). I also park mine moter up hill so it can drain if it rains when it is parked. And, as always, more chain lube the more better
Alaska floating atvs group on face book. Fixing help and trail rides!!!!!
One way kindof implies it has a check valve inside. I would assume they would seal OK, but do they stick out ? Anything outside the tub will tend to get pulled out when trail riding. I even lose caplugs.
Caplugs are cheap enough to carry several spares. Approx $4-5 per hundred.
I use them on hovercraft there are called scupper valve not sure on spelling the one i got from west marine is flat with a rubber flap in it they work pretty good but i sure would not want to bet my baby on them.
