  • Argo is not steering when hot

I have a 1998 argo response with the 18 horse briggs van v twin.
When i start up the argo and go for a ride, everything works well, once its been running for a while nd is warm / hot, the argo will not turn right. It steers left just fine.
I stop the argo and shut it off for a short while nd the steering comes back, till it gets hot again normally 5 minutes. then cool for 5...
    Thanx...

First check to see if the cooling hose is connected and has not been knocked(or melted) off alignment with the brake disc on the right side. If the left side is still operating correctly this would be a good point to start. Another thing to look at is the brakes staying slightly engaged, this too will overheat the disc and wear out the brakes on that side. Does it also have a parking brake that could be engaged. The Conquest has them not sure about the response models. Hope this helps.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Possibly, You need to replace the brake fluid (DOT5), sounds like you have a bit of moisture in the one brake system. When it gets hot, the water try's to flash into steam, causing a vapor lock.
I would suggest that you do both brakes.
I just posted a vid on Brake Calipers that you might be interested in. It's a little further down in the Argo forum

I did have a motorcycle shop tell me to try replacing the fluid in the right side with dot5.
any idea how much it holds and the best way to drain it out ?

A 500ml bottle will probably do both brakes twice. As for the BEST way.... That would be disassemble, clean, and replace seals. I don't think you need to do that, but I would pull the calipers off, disconnect the supply line, and pull the bleed ( carefull you don't loose the steel ball under the bleed fitting). Dump the fluid out of the calipers, shake them out. Drain the fluid from the master cylinder. Reassemble, and add new fluid, bleed out any trapped air through the bleed fitting.

Isee this thread is older but my guess would be that the caliper is leaking internally, while there is a kit available suggest just changing the caliper out and new dot 5 fluid.
