  • Restoreing the old 6x6 Argo

Well so far ordered all the new chain, slids, and inner and outer bearings. Now it's up to my uncle the finish my new axles he's making me. Cause had to cut the old ones off cause couldent get the sprokets off the shaft and tried everything. And somebody said to cut them cause they wouldent move for me. so wish me luck with the rest of the build. Pictures will be coming soon for u guy's since i know how everybody loves pictures.

Had a big ? Where do the seals on the older argos go cause when i pulled out the old bearings there were no seals. And since its supposed to float i thought they would have seals. is there a diagram showing how they would go togeather?

cant tell you on the seals but yep cut the axle i tried for a long time to get mine out on my rebuild and it was so much easier to just cut them. i used sawalls with metal cutting blade and had no promblem.save the knuckles

        HAPPY

Me and my dad just got done putting the new axles and bearings in the 83 6x6 argo. Also put the chain on and cleaned it up a little. Also had the motor cleaned up and dropped in few more things to do to the motors.

Also had ? how much hp power will a 500cc snowmobile motor put out and how fast?

Sounds like the project is coming along well John.
Horsepower and speed are difficult to predict accurately....too many variables with the HP thing, like carb, tuning, and especially exhaust. Speed will be a product of the RPMs the motor turns, gear ratio in your trans, and if you get the clutches set up properly.
I'm sure with a 500cc motor you will not be dissapointed.

            Cool congrats!
There are variables in just saying 500cc snowmobile engine but I would say something like 45hp roughly.

Ya thanks for the input guys. Ya still have to go and get tires for it. And start bending the tubing for the roll bar. My buddys dad is getting my guides cut for me for the homemade tracks were building. But it's getting there. To bad Michigan weather sucks! I wanted snow to drive the argo around in. But that's fine since it's not done yet but soon.

Wow!!!! What a day......Just got done redoing the back rest and the seat. Also put body support's on the Argo. But for some reason the hood don't fit right and i don't know why. Now need the pic up a nice bin or something along that line since im not going to put people in the back seat lil area. I wanna put a bin there to put stuff in like tools, spare parts, fishing stuff or just any thing.

How did you go with the seal problem, I also have the same question.

Anyone know the answer to this?

                  Cheers
