Seem fishy. Never had tracks but been told tracks suck the horsepower down alot. So you need alot to start with like 18+hp. 16hp might be ok but not recommended. That is the only reason why you couldnt climb hills is if you run outta horses. Also you cant swin in them. Im sure someone who has tracks can help more.

Mike ,
I watched that Escago track video again , and its amazing the hill the Argo 8x8 climbed , out of the water ! This could not have been done with any tire combination I,d venture to say . Whats even more impressive though , is that the Escago tracks swim too ,as evident in the video you posted .

Mike,
Thanks for the welcome. I am new to the site but I've been an argo owner for a few years. I'm going to keep my eyes open but if anyone hears about a set of tracks for sale in Southeastern Ontario, let me know.
Oh and if you're wondering what the signature name is all about.... I (or should I say my dogs and I) hunt for whitetail deer antlers. If the property is too big to walk, we use the argo.
Hustler,
Thanks for your input.Bone Collector

Hi Rich,
I have a couple sets of tracks for my Argos, and can tell you that "Snow Conditions" have alot to do with where you can go, and what you can climb. Right now we have about 3 feet of, very sugary, snow. It's no problem for the tracks, but as you said, hills can be a problem. Weight in the Argo will help a little, and once you get a trail set in the snow, you should be good. I just made a couple trips into my cabin, last weekend. First trip I took 40 gals of gas, 6-20lb tanks of Propane, and a propane fridge. The weight helped me break/set the trail. The second trip in, I brought my wife, 3 kids, and all our food/gear (chainsaw, generator, ect) for 4 days. I only had to winch up one short, but steep, hill.
Traction bars/cleats help alot on packed trails, but will do nothing for you in loose snow.
Later,
RD

That's what an 8 wheeler's made for. Or like you hauled before, a dozen+ sheets of plywood. To Invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk. (Thomas Edison)
