I'm looking at a few Argos locally on craigslist, and I have noticed that everyone selling them is asking about double what NADA says these machines are worth. My question is are these guys just extra proud of their machines, or is there another pricing guide that Argo owners go by? Thanks guys.

OK, I was thinking about this a bit, 'cause a friend was looking and commented that the prices were high too. This is just a thought, call it a theory if you want.
Ever since the introduction of the Avenger style machine, the prices on the OLD Style machines has been steadily climbing. Part of this may be because the new purchase price of an Argo is really high, makes guys willing to pay a little extra for a used machine. Also, now there is getting to be a limited number of good used OLD Style machines out there, so guys that are selling them think they are getting hard to find and feel they are worth more money. There is a large number of people that are "Stuck in the Dark Ages" (me) who prefer the older style machines, control systems, transmitions, ect. So, with the new found popularity of the OLD Style bringing their prices up, owners of the used NEW Style machines figure that their machines MUST be worth more than the OLD Style.
The circle is visious, I've seen some rediculous prices on used machines lately. Some are close to what the new purchase price was.
Just a thought

I have followed the new and used market for years now and the NADA prices have not been accurate on older vehicles. It seems NADA depreciates our amphibs yearly just like a car. That's just not how things have been going. New amphibs have been increasing in price at a rate that is just plain scary. Used vehicles are very appealing because they accomplish basically the same task and when they are maintained, they have a lot of life in them. A 2006 Avenger for $10,500 looks very nice sitting next to a brand new one for $16,000, especially when the used one has a camo body, winch, and other accessories that adds big dollars to a new one. If the 2006 was maintained, you'll have a great machine for many years that you could even add tracks and other accessories to, and still be at a lower price than a bone stock new Argo. All of the older 8x8s are great sellers and their value has increased over the past two years.Everybody dies, but not everybody lives.

well having just finshed a major rebuild i can tell you my price for this machine would be much higher than book but i know what is in this machine plus like rd i think the conquest is a much better machine i would put this machine 5 years down the road to a new machine because i just think they are a heavier build . but alas i did not see every model made so i may be wrong
