  • Winch Mount pictures please

    Hi,

with my new Avenger parked in the driveway, I would like to add a winch to it, but with no parts being availible here in South Africa I can order a winch kit form the US but with our exchange rate and cost of the kit it will kill me and not make it worth while at all. I would therefore like to Fab the mounts but need some guidance via some pics on what the mounts look like and how they fit in the machine. I will then Fab it and mount my winch. Would need to use it to load /offload the argo form the trailer as I can't get in and out of the machine when on the trailer - I'm in a wheelchair. So the which will aid loading and offloading....

any suggestions/ drawings and pics would be really appreciated!

    thnx

Punch "Argo winch mount pics" into GOOGLE, and you should see a pic showing the kit. Granted you will not get measurements and such but it will get you started on understanding how it's done.
Should see a pic of the inside and outside bracket, the U shaped brace that mounts to the sub frame of the machine, and a bag of nuts/bolts. I would get you pics but am away from home and it's pretty hard to make out pics inside an Argo engine compartment anyway.

Once you see what you need, I think you'll be able to fab something up anyway, or have it faricated if you don't do that kind of thing.

I dont want to discourage you, but that would be one of the hardest models to do any fabrication due to the limited space in the engine compartment.

the winch mount kit for that machine is pretty elaborate. I think that an easier do it yourself project might be a simple body band and then mount the winch to that.

        Just my thoughts...

        Best wishes

You can always bolt any (custom made) frame type winch mounting to the outside front bearing housing those bolts are afixed to the tubular frame which is the strongest part of your Argo.

              Hi Whitepuff,
I had the same issue and then a very helpful chap sent me this link to the Argo parts Manual... Hope this helps you as well...
