  • Conquest tire size with supertracks question

All, it's time to replace the tires on my 96 Conquest with the original Runamucks. I also have supertracks. I have seen numerous threads about using the 24" Frontier tires on Conquests. With an added track link or two, will the supertracks still fit / clear the tub or do I need to stay with the 22" tires for track use?

I would like to keep the track option open so I can get around in the snow (interior Alaska) but I like the idea of adding lug depth and ground clearance (even if only one inch) with the 24" Frontiers. The added bonus of swimming ability without tracks is desireable.

RockDoctor: I know you are an advocate of the Frontiers. Watching some of your vids, I see some track use, and some tire use. Do you keep two sets of wheels/tires or do you use tracks with the larger tires? Thanks for the info!

I am fairly new to Argo use (bought second hand 96 Conquest two years ago) but already am in awe of their use. Have hauled a moose with entire camp for two the last two years. I have had to put a little labor into it due to previous owner not doing some basic preventative maintenance. It has all been "investment time" time anyway (learning more about the machine) so it was well spent. I am also in the process of fabbing an aluminum top. About 75 % complete. Made the frame from 2" OD 1/8 " wall 50 series aluminum and the cover is .100" 5056. I'll post some photos when it warms up a little (-45F today).

I'm sure I'm stating the obvious, but this is the best "forum" for info flow that I have EVER used or seen! As a noobie for Argo / 6 or 8 wheel ATV use, I need all the help I can get.

My tires are BKT at-108s 22x11x8. From pics I've seen I think they may have a slightly larger diameter than the runamuks. My clearance between the top of the tracks and the tub at the middle wheels (those measured with greatest diameter and at the time they were 7 psi) is 1 squished finger. That is, I can't slide my finger in, so sitting here I would guess 1/2 inch. I don't think I could go larger diameter and have the tracks on without tub modification.

      Hi Newguy

I don't use tracks very often in the Summer time...........I have, but only long enough to remind myself of WHY I don't run them often in the Summer.
Now I have gone and bought myself a set of Adair Tracks, that are designed for Summer/Mud/Muskeg/Swimming, ect. I suppose I will be running one Conquest on 24" Frontiers and the other on Runamucks with tracks. Once the snow melts, we will let the testing begin
To answer, I have a set of Runamucks for each Argo and one set of 24" Frontiers. Tracks go over the Runamucks.

Rims are cheap, get another set and keep the old Runamucks for the tracks

Looking forward to pics of your new top, I've been tossing the idea around for a while, but never seem to get at it.

RD; thanks for the info! I kind of expected to need two sets of wheels/tires. I think there is a shop down south (states) that has some 24" frontiers on rims. Shipping may kill me so may wait until summer (should be driving through May-ish). the top is a work in progress, should have the aluminum parts done / installed late winter / early spring. I'll get the prelimnary pics posted in next couple of weeks. Thanks again. NG
