I am new so forgive me if I put this in the wrong section. Sunday I buit a front rack for my Conquest and sprayed it with black plastic dip. The whole rack is made out of Alum and weights less the 20#.
I am 6' so I can see over it with ease. From above the headlight to the bottom of the rack is 7". It also gives you a great place to hold onto when going down hill. I think I am going to build an elevated basket/rack for the rear and use the receiver hitch to attach it.
I think the rack I build for the back will attach to the receiver hitch and come strait up. It will look like the racks you see on the back of trucks and SUV. The basket will be 4' wide buy 2' long with 8" sides. I do not want it to effect the departure angle of the argo. It will also add weight to the rear of the vehicle.
Having taken a second look at the rack, I am still impressed but now I have a question....Do you have to remove the rack to take off the engine cover to check fluid levels and other maintenence?????? I know that is is just 4 bolts but if the rack is loaded then it can be a pain.....
Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.

you can remove the hood with the rack on. you turn the wing nut on the hood, lift the hood a little and slide it off the hindges. I can check my oil, add fluids, etc. For a major repair I need to remove the 4 bolts. I though about doing a pin attachment but it ment more work, more weight and a loose fit that could rattle.
several people asked me to post up a picture of the back rack when I completed it so here it is. This rack plugs into my receiver hitch and I can still haul a trailer. The added weight on the back of my Argo seems to help me in the flooded rice fields.
Thanks for the pics....Excellent job there....looks really nice....great add on for the machine....What are the dimensions of the rack?????
Do you think with just the hitch for support that there may be to much torque on the receiver if travelling over rough terrain??? What if there were some more supports to the back corners of the machine for more stability????? Just asking!!!!!!

I used 2"x2" x1/4" steel pipe. That is the same material that the receiver hitch on your truck is made of. I can put a small block GM 350 on that rack and it will not break. Those same type of racks go down the road behind RVs with generators on them or behind SUVs loaded. The dimensions are around 40"x 28" I will have to measure it again. Sunday I had 8 dozen G&H decoys on that back rack alone and each of those decoys has a 6oz weight. We crossed knee deep rice fields and 3 leeves with all the gear plus 4 adults & dog. The front rack had 5 shot guns, 4 blind bags, 1 cooler and 4 marsh stools.
