  • Couple of questions

This morning I was hunting in a slew and when I was crossing the water both my lights went out. When I got home I found that both of my headlight bulbs had burned out at the same time. What is this all about?

The other thing that happened is when I was driving through flooded cattails and saw grass. The Argo stopped moving and I was stuck big time. The grass wrapped around the axles and I had to get in the water to cut the ago loose. Once I was loose I had a he'll of a time getting to shore because on all the grass wrapped around the axles.

I took the wheels off when I got home to remove all the grass and grease the axles and noticed the back axle on the drivers side had a grease leak. When I pumped grease into the bearing it came out at the cork gasket on the top. The bearing feel tight with no play so where do I get another cork gasket?

    Thank you

With your lights I wonder if the voltage regulator is out and putting to much volts to them maybe? I would check voltage.

For the grass around the axles, one trick is to put pvc pipe larger then the axles on them. You will have to remove the axles to do it but may be worth it if you run into that a lot. Or maybe you can come up with a way to split the pvc and attach it back together? Or maybe there is some other tube material that you could slit and put around the axle easier. But the idea is with it free floating on the axle if something grabs it, it wont wind it up.

It does sound like the gasket is bad. Not to familiar with argos but another possible option instead of the cork gasket is to use 3m strip caulk. It comes in little strip and it works great on Max and Attex bearings where the flange mounts to the body. Not for sure if it will work instead of cork but might be something to look into.

I have had that cattail/reed axle wrap on my Max and on my Argo.

      It sucks.

Unless you just want to remove the whole assembly get a new cork gasket and slice it at a 45 degree angle and put it over the axle and then superglue it back together once in place. But if you want to tear it apart that is the long way. Do you have a dealer near by to get parts from?
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"
