Ok guys tearing down my 99 Argo vanguard 2 for total rebuild and have everything out but 2 axles the reason the aren't out is because the sprockets will not slide down the shaft. We have beat and pb blasted till I'm blue in the face. Just broke out the torch and had it red hot and it still didn't move. Any ideas Im running out of patience and ideas.

Hello Swamp Donkey,Good Luck with your rebuild, If you shock it Ièd bet it would let loose. Heat the sprocket red hot like you did and quench it real quick with water, use lots of water because the faster you cool it the better. What this does it breaks any rust loose that can be holding it. Used this technic at work for years ripping stuff apart and it worked everytime. If it didnét break loose for you the heat probably expanded the shaft together with sprocket. Heat red hot and quench it works.Comment

I would agree with this. Had to do that last week on some hydraulic cylinder caps, can still be a pain tho. The key is to heat the sprocket up and get it to move before the heat transfers into the shaft and swells the shaft. And red hot may be too much heat for such thin material. You might also try putting a pipe wrench on the sprocket tube and one on the axle, and heat the tube and try to work the tube back and forth on the axle. Either way, much luck.
