This is just a feeler thread. I am going to upholster my argo interior (hard top argo) this week. I saw the smart bed a while back, and I am going to do something similar. What I am wondering is if anyone has done a full interior? I am leaning towards carpet with carpet insulation, but open to ideas. Surely I cannot be the first. Alaska is so cold, that is what is driving the train. I want going down the trail at minus 50 to be like watching wilderness tv.

Just stay away from anything that can contain moisture easily. (like your plane carpet?) What about using automotive insulation on the celing kind of like Rebco 380-9192 - Rebco Silicone/Aluminized Insulation Cloths - Overview - SummitRacing.com and i would use some sort of synthetic, like a neoprene for the cloth itself. My brother had seat covers in his jeep made out of neoprene, it wont break at sub zero temps, is water proof no maitnece.... but kind of expensive. just my .02 and let me know how it progresses. unless somone has a better idea to get it to all stick together, use 3M super weather strip adhesive to get it to stick to the top.

      hi
Use marine carpet for the flat surfaces
Use hull liner for the curved type surfaces
Both are typically available in the same colours
Stick down with spray on contact adhesive
Both materials will not rot and are suitable for dirty/ moisture type of enviroments

Using marine fabrics is a good idea.
If the top is fiberglass stuff will stick well. The HDPE parts may not work so well.
Use DAP Weldwood HHR - many contact cements will fail in the heat and your headliner will drop on you during the heat of the year. The HHR means high heat resistant. Pretty commonly used by professional vehicle upholsterers.

If you really want to upholster the HDPE then I would try and have edges and high stress areas underneath something that is screwed/riveted on. Otherwise I imagine that it will just peel off.

I drove my buddy's argo at minus 30 this week. It stayed warm, but it was loud (cabbed), I think the main incentive is soumd insulation. Rubber, foam insulation, or carpet insulation. In the past, I have used wool
