Upgrading my 700 HD

After running my new machine I soon realized I'm not as young as I was....the first thing I noticed was my back was sore,this sucks so I started to look at tractor seats,not so easy to find in narrow versions especially with a suspension.
Finally found the exact same kind as used by ODG.......at one third their price, even with shipping from Sudbury included!
Haven't run it through 3 tanks yet but I'm already cutting and welding the darn thing

Awesome, feel like sharing the info? I bought these seats, not too bad but they sit too high. If you cut the frame take some pics, I would like to see what you did.......

Yeah those PA seats were the first ones I went for...at the time I didn't care what they looked like. Then tried to fit them....too wide & too high, too bad.
Now a company in Sudbury called Darby is shipping them down, they make stuff for hard rock mining, the seats are a great match!
I'll take some photos for sure.

They don't sit too high? If not I want a set. What is the cost per seat (if you don't mind me asking)

They would be too high if you keep the original frame that once supported the bench seat, looking carefully at the line drawings that ODG makes available online of the Argo one can see the toolbox/tray under the suspended seat version is less than half as deep compared to the bench seat version.

I plan on cutting & welding a bit to get the seat rails down to the required height.
The seats cost me $206 each plus shipping & taxes came to $626....steep but still over a $100 less than My Argo dealer quoted me for one seat!

After looking my machine over again minus the bench seat I see what another Argo owner said when he stated that 2 big fellows in a hdi se had better be on good terms because the suspended seats will sit between the "fenders".........maybe being tall I can get away with mounting them on the stock rails. Give me more space between them

Yes the question was brought up on another thread, the answer there was "no". My take on it is yes, anything is possible...easy &/or cheap maybe not....in this case an arc welder is a definite plus, and a lot of guys here seem to be fairly handy.

One of my favourite stories was about 2 Inuit about 40 years ago who went out trapping on one skidoo & it broke down,they fixed it with a hacksaw blade a file, the barrel of a rifle & the pan off one of their leghold traps,saved their lives according to the story,but I figure they just wanted to save themselves a long walk home, the article was probably written by someone who was never north of 60
