I was wondering what someone would charge to make me an angled hitch extender so that I coud use one of those aluminum 500lb carry baskets on the back? This would be angled up so that the basket is at the same height as the top of the tub. It would need to be of the pass through variety so that I could hook up a trailer while it was being used. I could borrow a welder from work if I had to fab one up myself, but where do you get the metal to build such a monstrosity?

You will have to consider tounge wt./ distance out (leverage), and load in the rack. This could easily overload/ damage the factory hitch and or frame. I plan on making a rack for the new bigfoot, but I'll keep it small and I did reinforce/add a mount up high. A trailer could still hook up below.

At the bottom of this pic you can see the hitch receiver for the rack. To help with the leverage issue I will put a diagonal brace down to the lower hitch from the outer edge of the rack.
You can see the reinforcing in this picture.

go to a machine shop or fab shop and ask if you could look through their scrap metal and that you would like to buy some you may luck out and they tell you to take what you like or you may get it super cheap. If they ask what you need it for they may have exactly what you need.

I just test drove a 700 with a cool basket/ rack on the front of the argo. The frame of the rack was bolted to the rail, and the rack was detachable! The guy used it for hauling duck decoys. I believe he makes them for around 300.00 Contact tim at adair argo.
