  • slack belt help

OK, ive read a ton about how I should have 1" to 1-1/2"of belt sag when mild pressure is applied. my problem is I have a load more. I can probable touch the lower portion if I were to push it hard enough. I am running a 125-56 belt like it says in the manual, and I dont have any adjustments for the trans or motor to be able to tighen it any without slotting. is this normal.

New or old belt, if it is old you might have stretched it out and need to replace it. If it is new, are you sure you have the right belt?

If it is wore at all it will make a difference too. Is the top of the belt flush with the driven pulleys outer edge of the pulley faces? If its worn it will sink in the driven pulley more.

To be honest, I purchased it from my father inlaw who said the belt was new, So I'm not positive. The belt measures 1 3/8 and rides flush with the top of the clutch. In my online manual it says to use a 125-56 belt which it is. I put it in neutral and spin it up, all seemed to work fine but there is a lot of slopping on the lower part of the belt(the section returning to the driven clutch) is this normal?

can you show a pic of the driven clutch
there are spacers in the center between the two discs if you take them out (one at a time ) this will move the belt out farther on the clutch getting better low gearing when taking off
but you have to make sure that its not too tight because the machine will move at idle when in gear

you have to take the clutch apart to do this and every spacer you remove has to be put back on the backside of the helix under the snap ring
if you think you cant just try it any way you wont know till ya do
