Does anyone know why ODG uses 24x10" wheel assemblies on its 6x6s instead of the 25x12"? From a manufacturing standpoint, it seems like 1 tire size for all models would be the way to go, and the 25x12" must have greater traction and ground floatation -- so why not use it across the line-up? Does anyone know if the 25x12" assemblies will bolt right on to a current 6x6, and what are the performance gains or drawbacks? Thank you.

Why does ODG use two AT189 sizes?

As i understand it....The first hybrid tire that ODG developed that was based on the old runamuk tire was the 24x10x8 carlisle on the 07 frontier 650 6x6....then I think there was a need to replace the top of the line 25" Goodyear rawhide lll tire so after the HEAT tire which proved to be a better track tire than a swimming tire, they just made a bigger version of the super popular new 24" frontier tire....it was a direct replacement for the largest tires that they had ever used and was a 25x12x9 carlisle .... Fits the slightly larger fenders on a new 8x8 body (which are slightly larger than a new 6x6) really well and you can even run Argo's premium rubber track over it on a new 8x8 body style....with track however,it is pretty tight on a new 6x6 and the more common factory plastic tracks require a 10" wide tire so the 24x10x8 frontier tire is the perfect fit on a new 6x6 that might eventually get factory tracks....if a new 6x6 is not going to run tracks the new 25x12x9 Carlisle swims faster, sits higher in the water, and still rides really great...nice upgrade for a lot of amphibs.....finally....after the tremendous success of both new tires and the lack of any other good replacement for the old runamuks...the need was there to build a 3rd version of the tire in a 22x10x8 which is an excellent upgrade to older machines, especially if they might want to try and slip on a set of tracks...
Hope this helps
Tim
