8x8 argo in a short bed pickup?

Looking to maybe pickup a avenger a few states away but I don't want to pull a trailer to help with fuel costs. Does a 8x8 fit in a 6.5 foot shortbox full size pickup with the tailgate down? I would imagine you could take the two middle sets of tires off to clear the fender wells. Will it be safe? My truck is a 3/4 ton so I not worried about the weight just the length.

yes you are right you need to remove the middle tires, they fit perfect in chev and dodges but the 98-2005 fords F150 are very tight what is your truck?
