  • What would this Argo Conquest be worth?

I have been checking out all of the Conquest posts and I went out and found what I think is a great machine at a decent price, but I want you Argo dudes to tell me what you think. I will list all the options and I want to know what you guys would pay.

    2004 Conquest with 22 hrs (yes 22)
    Supertracks with 6" metal grousers
    3000# winch
    Windshield with wiper kit
Custom aluminum hardtop with rack and side curtains
High output offroad lights on top
    Heater/defroster kit
    Alternator kit
    Extra forward rear seat
    Hand rail kit
    Behind seat gear bag

    How much?

Around here, you could probably get about $7,500 to $8,500 for that. Hard to say without seeing the machine.

Not sure where you are from, here in Ontario I concur with RD it would bring 7K for sure, the hours are a big bonus,as well as the year, but much over that price you can start to find Avengers without the full load of course.N.C.T

This is a situation where a guy could get a pretty sweet deal on a Conquest.
It sounds like a really nice machine, but it's an older machine, and it's not an Avenger( big tires, more clearance, bigger power, ect). Early Avengers can be found around here for as low as $7,000 with a few options (nothing like this Conquest).
You would have a hard time getting the high end of my price guess around here, but I would love to have a look at it.

Well it has basically been in a time capsule. The original owner was a guy in Colorado that bought it all decked out like a mini snowcat to access a high elevation cabin community. He became ill almost immediately after buying it and his health issues would not allow him to go to those high altitudes. It was stored inside for almost five years and the owner unfortunately passed. The family then sold it to some friends and they used it once to get to their cabin and then It sat tarped in a cover garage for another year. That owner then sold it because she doesn't use it enough.

The first thing I asked was about storage and water in the hull. The chains and everything else about it are new.

I totaled all of the options and I deal exclusively with the dealer that sold it to them for all my Argo stuff and they paid around $22K for it. The custom tops they sell are pushing $3K with the side curtains and top rack.

It is now sitting in my garage. I picked it up for $9,200 and think I got a good deal. I am seeing a lot of older Conquest on the net that are alot older and have maybe a winch for $6-$7K and have 200-300+ hours.

I will get some pics up soon, but right now I am dealing with the usual old gas related issues. The fuel pump went out almost immediately and I have changed out all fluids, lubed it and now I am replacing the components of the fuel delivery system (pump, filter, fuel line, and flushing/cleaning the tank.

It really depends on where you live I guess. I picked up my 2000 Conquest with 368 hours, it has the top and a winch for $3800. I've spent about $600 in parts and accessories. New fluids, bearings, chains, seals, gaskets, bolts, lock nuts, rear seat kit, & bilge pump. This will be a very sweet machine when I'm done with it.

I just got in from the garage. I installed the fuel line (Gates green barrier) that is rated for E-85, bio, diesel, whiskey,... whatever. New fuel filter and pumped out the second batch of gas and Sea Foam mix from the tank. I should be getting the fuel pump in the mail tomorrow. I went with the original kawi pump even tho it was expensive. It already had an after market pump in it that the last owners put in 09. Everyone says the Conquests hate old gas and you should treat the gas with marine Sta-Bil that has an ethanol ttreatment and obviously stabilizes the gas.[IMG]http://16660253[/IMG16660280
                  Pics I hope.

In the condition you say it's in, I have no doubt that you got a fair/good deal.
There are a few things you should make sure to do IMHO.
                    Rebuild carb
                    Rebuild/lube clutches
                    Replace alternator belt
Replace fluids and filters (of course). Don't forget to replace Brake Fluid too (Dot5)
                    Post some pics ;-)

I purchased my 2000 Conquest with 30 hours on it for $5500. It had no tracks or winch but did come with 8 extra new tires.

Good call on the brake fluid and alternator belt. Those are "out of sight out of mind" parts, esp. the alt. What would happen to the machine if the belt wasn't there besides not charge the battery. Would you be able to drive it as long as there was juice in the battery?

Kind of depends on how you have the machine set up. If the Alt fails, the engine should still run untill the battery is to low. If the engine/machine still has all the components from the original Mag Charging system, it could be hooked back up to get you home.

I seem to remember one guys machine that had 2 batteries set up. One charged off the engine/mag system and was used to run/start the engine, and operated the fuel pump and the Blower. The other battery was charged with the Alternator, and operated the lighting system, sterio and the Winch. There was also an Isolator Switch between the batteries, so you could parallel the batteries.
Wonder what ever happened to that machine, have not seen it in yrs

RD is spot on (as usual) on my old Magnum I fabricated a alternator kit from a Conquest and unhooked my magneto charge system leaving it dormant, but kept the plugs for it in the open,in event of a failure of the Alt system I would plug and keep charging.N.C.T

Got the pump in and ran it in my driveway for about an hour with freash gas and a mix of Sea Foam, marine Sta-Bil, and a couple of ounces of ATF. It ran much better, but still a bit rough. I pulled the plugs and maybe found out why. I want to start a new thread about plugs and oil weight for the conquest. Thanks gents!
