  • Gun rack / Gun mounts on Avenger

So I searched and searched and did a lot of hoemwork to find the best way to mount a gun rack, gun mounts on my avenger and finaly decided to pull the trigger on some ATV-Tek Flexigrip mounts (ATV-TEK RIDER RACK PRODUCTS - FlexGrip? Pro - Single) , which I bought on ebay from the US aand had it shipped to South Africa. Decided to fit a pair in the front for easy access to my gun while hunting or wing shooting, form the driver seat, and pair on the rear for mounting an additional gun if a friend comes along or to mount my electric trolling motor when not in use.

The ATV-Tek products are fantastic quality and comes with two options for mounting, either on a flat surface (which I used for the front, or on tube mounted which I used on the hand rails on the rear of the tub. They are great products and according to the video clips on their site, they should be super sturdy

The installation on the front was bit more trickier than the rear, due to an angle iron that runs acrross the front, just betwen the argo's dash and the good, to which the hood hindges and fuse box are mounted to. I had to modify the mounting brackets on the grips to accomodate this angle iron. Also had to cut the hood flanges a bit to clear the bolts on the grips, but not a big issue.

The grips are super cool, flexible yet super sturdy. They can rotate 360 degrees, and the mounts are adjustable for differetn leths of guns and bows. Best part is you can remove them without any tools and all thats left is the bases which doesn interfere with anything or spoil the looks....

below are some pics of them fitted....can't wait to take them on a hunt...

With the grips removed, leaving only the bases (tool less removal)

    on the rear:

Mods to the hood stays - small cut out to clear the bolts securing the bases...

Thought I'll give an update on how these perform... I took it out for the first time wingshooting in a sunflower field on a farm close by. The road was a bit bumpy but the mounts worked flawlessly carrying my double barrel muzzle-loading shotgun. The little rubber bands at first looked a bit flimsy keeping the gun down in the mounts, but it seemed to do the trick just fine. The mounts are actually quite flexible to take up most of the shock of the uneven terain when driving flat out with the argo. So far I am very happy with this product and the flexibility in its use
