  • Bent Seat Hinge Mystery

I rode my 2011 Frontier the other eve, and all was calm and normal. However, when I got out, the seat base cushion was crooked, several inches forward on the driver's side. I tried to flip the seat up, but it wouldn't move. I then discovered that the seat hinge oddly bent downward, pulling the seat forward, and freezing the hinge. Bizarre.

I used a hammer, and pounded the hinge back into shape, resolving all.

I weigh 130 lbs, and wasn't doing anything aggressive at all. I have no clue how that hinge bent. Has anyone else had a seat hinge issue? Thank you.

I meant my post as a serious question on 6x6World.com, but based on the replies, it must have somehow got posted to Geeks.com.

i am sure when someone has a serious answer they will chime in as well......... sounds to me like the rivets or screws that hold the seat came undone on one side and from the vibration and you moving around caused it to bend. if it was a more serious problem i am sure you would get more serious answers.

pcmark, Where do you attach your tie downs? If you throw a strap across the seat to hold it down to the trailer you will surely bend it, at least the seat bracket that goes across the body in the middle. Just a thought...
