  • Drive belts 750 hdi help

This is my first post so hopefully its in the right place .

We have 2 x 750 hdi argos that on average appear to chew a belt every couple of months . Is this normal ? , they do a lot of hours and are loaded most of the time .
Has anyone used the 127-137hd belt and if so did it last any longer than the normal belt . Also is it worth fitting gates or ultimax belts instead of the dealer belts .

Page 30 of the current operators manual explains how to adjust your secondary clutch for belt wear. It can be done right on the machine without removing the clutch. The HD belt is much more forgiving than the stock belt and will hold up better under heavy loads. Also make sure you are not trying to steer the vehicle from a standing stop. You need to get the vehicle moving forward before applying steering input. If you don't it's easy to make the belt squeak and slip. Make sure you have read page 15 of the operators manual as well. This deals with driving techniques that are unique to the HDI transmission. Contrary to popular belief, low range should seldom be used. Hope that steers you in the right direction....pun intended.

Howie thanks for the reply , very helpfull especially page 15.
We did not get a operaters manual with the machines and the riders are used to Argo's as we have 2 conquests and an Avenger so it was assumed that all was well ( so much for assumptions). We had even asked the dealer 2 weeks ago about belt wear on the 750's only to be told that it will be are riders setting off in high range . So after downloading the manual page 15 was a bit of a surprise . The manual we have is dated 10/2010 but page 30 does not appear to tell me about clutch adjustment for belt wear . do you have a copy of this page ?.

Pages from Argo Operator's Manual 671-21-09-2011.jpgPages from Argo Operator's Manual 671-21-09-2011.jpgHi Pinz. Glad that helped. Sorry for not replying sooner, been pretty busy. I've extracted page 30 from the current operators manual. Give it a try and let me know how it works out.
