  • reinforcing body

Hi, I'm planing of reinforcing the body by putting U-beam around. I'm thinking of steel. will it be too heavy. Could I do it with aluminium U-beam. How thick should I take. Quite often I have to jack the argo with a jack all on the side of the argo. It's not very good on the plastic.
PS: if I get the chance to buy adair track I won't have to use the jack I guess

What part of the body are you jacking on? Are you using a HiLift type Jack? I would think the lighter the better. Are you so stuck your winch wont pull you out?

Hi Keith, I'm using a high lift jack and put it along the edge of the body. Yes sometimes I'm badly stuck and nothing to winch but when I use it on the lake in winter there is no place to winch. Unfortunately I still don't have the adair track ( no money).

Okay brebett, so you are talking of a band the length of the argo along the parting seam, correct? I use steel angle iron, I dont think there would be any advantage using channel over angle material. I have seen this referred to as the belly band and the ROPS uses it for support as well as home made roof racks and it is angle material.

Thank you, you're talking about a steel blade with 90 degree angle I guess. How thick are you taking.
