  • What mandatory things to do during a Conquest rebuild

Hi all like a lot of other people on the site I am rebuilding my anphib. I am looking for suggestions on what mandatory things to do while I have my entire Conquest stripped down. Of course I am going to do the obvious things such as bearings, chains, sprockets. While motor is out I am also going to rebuild a starter and alternator. I see some other people putting alternator kits in their Conquests. Does the factory 1 not put enough amps out ? I will probably just be running my winch and a few aftermarket lights. Another thing I will be doing is installing a "CBLS" Central bearing lubricating station

Sounds cool huh .... I will just be extending all of the grease zerks to a common point behind the driver seat. All 20 of them. I have a feeling they will be getting greased a lot more than they normally would if I do this. I keep hearing something about the 20 horsepower kawasaki motors and there valves is there something I should do with them ??? Any who just looking for any little tidbits I can get. I want to do it once im do right. Oh ya its a 98 by the way.

    Thanks all

BenDawg, while it is apart and you are replacing the axle bearings it is a good idea to pre-lube the bearings prior to installing them using a needle adapter. The central lube system sounds great, just be sure to purge the air before hooking them up to the bearings. Re building/ servicing the clutches is a must on a high hour machine. Use anti seize on the bearing to axle locations and blue loctite on the set screws. Lubing the chains prior to assembly is a little messy but it keeps the tub cleaner. If the machine has an external belt drive alternator(40 amp) that is better, otherwise they charge from the stator and they put out only 20 amps. I add a little Marvel oil to the crankcase and a little in the gas to help keep the valves clean.
