Kind of a lame video as 1. we had a camera malfunction (off when we thought it was on) and 2. My passenger didn't want to get out of the Argo during the best footage times. In any case I thought some of you may find it interesting how Argos are used in the north as workhorses...........
We went out to pull our nets for the season last weekend. Still ice on the big lake but getting marginal in some places. We have commercial licenses on the Great Slave Lake, which is the 10th biggest lake in the world if anyone is interested in that fact. By the way, no money in it as you can't sell unless its to the gov't agency, and they pay nothing. But that is another issue, we do it for gas money and the lifestyle.....
Anyway, I digress, we were going out we went between two islands (a no-no for those that know ice) and I noticed a potential "soft spot". On the way back my buddy unknowingly took my quad through there as he was following my tracks, but going 30 mph, he had no problems. I stopped to take a look at the ice conditions and, splush! in one side goes. Took a couple of minutes to get the other side down but when we did, we were able to back up 20 ft or so to good ice, and crawl back on top. Amazing. Would have made great footage but my buddy didn't want to get out to take the shots.
All in all, everyone was very impressed with the abilities of the tracked avenger. Me included. And when I told my quad driving friend what happened........he didn't look so good
Here is a short video. As I said, not great footage but you may find it interesting.........
