can anyone plz tell me how long the shaft on a motor needs to be for my avenger, and where do u measure from?

IMO it depends on application. You gonna be crossing a lake with gear and a person up front? Gonna be empty minus you and the outboard? You can see from my avatar that mine isn't deep in water yet never cavitates and does great when loaded and 2 passengers. However it's only a 3hp. I would think it would have grabbed air if it had been a 7hp short shaft (my 7hp is a long shaft and does equally well). -

They refer to them as a sailboat motor, at least that is what they called it when i bought mine. Don't see many extra long shafts. Just short and long shaft.
