Older 18" Plastic track question

I've been told that the new style super track links can be modified to fit the older style, has anyone ever done this with sucess? I was short one link on each side on mine so I modified them only to have them break the first time I ran "the creek" here at home. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yea I had to put in two sections to make them stretch over the Avenger,did a little grinding away of the plastic they worked fine,the newer sections are also made for a wider tire but they are Okay to use,but post up in the wanted section tons of them tracks were sold,you should be able to find some originals.NCT
